This collection of stories by Nathan Englander, a former Orthodox Jew from Long Island who relocated to Jerusalem, focuses on Jews whose lives have been changed by a moral crisis, or a sexual one. The stories are set in the New York City area, in the Soviet Union, and in Israel. A New York Times Notable Book in 1999.
